The self-defense that is
taught is pre-arranged “Ho Shin style” sometimes called
“One-Step-Sparring” or “Formals”. Tae Kwon Do literally means bare
foot, bare hand method so as a traditional Tae Kwon Do School no training
is taught in the use of weapons. Every
level of belt is responsible for 6 Ho Shin movements.
Red Belts are responsible for knowing 18 of these techniques. Black Belt Recommend students are required to develop six
of their own and perform these both in a slow motion fashion and a rapid
fashion. Adult and junior
students receive some grappling and advanced self-defense. Advanced self defense with grappling is not taught to
younger students because of the potential for injury to joints.
Special classes are conducted upon request in self-defense.
Classes have been conducted for women, church groups and others as
special seminars.
